positive parentingPositive parenting is not an easy task to achieve. Since each child is active and possesses different trait, behavior and persona, it’s up to the parents to figure out how to mold their child and become a better person once they grow up. There are times when as a parent, you grow frustrated, confused, and sometimes a bit lacking with how you handle such situations. There are scenarios that are beyond your control. As parents, you should be quick in responding to difficult situations while making sure that you are providing the best for your child.

Major in Positive Parenting?

Parenting is not taught in school – there are neither manuals nor books to teach you how to raise your child. Since there are no sets of guidelines or methods on how parenting should be done, you only rely on experiences and instincts when you are thrown into a tough situation. You vividly recall your parents and how they each handled you in certain situations. Because of those experiences, you feel that what you are doing is justifiable and thus, is considered positive parenting.

Positive parenting sometimes becomes negative parenting

Still, parenting can go wrong sometimes. Even if you didn’t mean to scold or lose their tempter to their kid, you still feel frustrated by the thought of hurting your kid emotionally. It’s alright to feel angry and frustrated, but you should not let it out with your child. If you get frustrated, stop for a while and take a breather. Don’t bear all the work and let your partner share the burden as well. As much as possible, enforce a positive co parenting strategy and take turns in disciplining your child. It’s healthier that way and the decisions don’t necessarily fall on your shoulders.

Eventually, there are negative and positives of single parenting style. Raising a child alone is never easy and since you don’t have anybody else to help you with some other important matters, you have to do everything – from tending to your child’s needs and at the same time, have to juggle work, pay bills, etc. Although we have seen a few success stories of single parents who raised their child alone, however, there should be a partner who can help you with training and educating the child.

As for the positive side of single parenting, you have the child’s attention and you get to spend quality time together. Also, kids who are living with single parents learn at a young age to become independent and not solely rely on adults for any sort of help.

Positive Parenting DVDs

Since children take more time and energy, parents sometimes end up getting bothered, discouraged, and sometimes, disappointed with their achievements. They feel that they failed in their parenting skills and sometimes need more reinforcements and help from the outside world. A positive parenting DVD can be one of the ways wherein they can recharge their spirits, learn from their mistakes, and take care of their child better.

The power of positive parenting is that kids grow up as lawful abiding citizens. When they turn into adults, they can easily determine the right from wrong and make good decisions because they were raised well by their parents. If parents can set a good example by becoming role models, children will emulate their actions and will treat individuals in a respectful manner.

As early as possible, parents should come up with a positive parenting & behavior modification chart to gain control of the child’s behavior and tantrums. The chart is also an idea to instill discipline for the child and be made aware of the consequences of each bad conduct. If the child achieves a good behavior each week, the parents may offer rewards, such as going on a picnic or visit an amusement park.
